Important news about changes to delivery

Orders that are over the value of the compensation level automatically provided by Royal Mail and other courier companies will now be sent Recorded Delivery. I'm afraid this means an increase in the postage costs for certain items but unfortunately I've had a spate of lost parcels so have no alternative. Recorded delivery does not enhance the compensation but provides a signature on delivery. It is the customer's responsiblity to ask and pay for additional insurance should the value of their order be over the level of insurance included. Currently this is either £36.00 or £41.00 plus postage cost for Royal Mail and £25.00 including postage for courier company. If a parcel is then lost or damaged and enhanced compensation has not been paid for by the customer then the maximum I can refund is these amounts regardless of the value of the order so do please bear this in mind before ordering. International shipping will differ. If in doubt, I am more than happy to answer your questions and get a price to you. Thank you!

Ordering

Once you have placed all the items you want in your shopping cart, please proceed to the checkout where you will be guided through the simple and secure payment process. Please note that This Vintage Life is committed to protecting our customers' information; therefore we will only ever use your personal details for the purpose for which it was given and will never share or pass this information to any third party.

Payment

UK Buyers

We accept payment by all major credit and debit cards, but only via Paypal. It is simple and quick to register and also free. You do not require a Paypal account. Just go to www.paypal.co.uk. You can of course pay with a paypal balance. Please can customers make sure that the address on their Paypal account is also the delivery address for their order. Thank you!

International buyers

We welcome customers from outside the UK. Paypal is the only method of payment we can accept from international buyers.

We are happy to ship worldwide. There are some exceptions to this and the items that are not available for posting overseas will be clearly marked as such. Delivery costs quoted are for the UK only. Please email for a shipping cost before ordering. We ship internationally via Airmail only.

Delivery

Delivery costs vary between each product. Once you have placed an item in your shopping cart you will be able to see the delivery cost for that item. You can still remove it a this point!

Multiple Orders

We are more than happy to combine postage costs if you are ordering more than one item. This isn't always possible as a multiple order can cost the same as sending several things individually but we will try our best to save you money if we can. Please let us know via the Contact page what you would like to purchase and a postage cost will be emailed to you. We regret partial postage refunds cannot be issued after you have purchased and paid so please do enquire about postage discounts BEFORE ordering.

We aim to despatch parcels as quickly as possible but please allow up to 14 days for delivery before getting in touch regarding your order status.

*Please be aware that we are a rurally based business and it is not always cost effective to make several journeys a week to post orders. Therefore, although we try to post as often as possible it may be that your order will not be posted for a few days after you have placed it. If you need something in a hurry, do please get in touch and we will do everything in our power to get your order to you as quickly as we can.

Delays can also be caused by bank holidays, postal strikes etc.

Please note that larger items and furniture may now take up to seven days to be despatched.

If a delay is expected we will keep you informed via email.

We now send some of our larger and heavier items via courier. This is good news as delivery will be cheaper on these items than the alternative Standard Parcel service via Royal Mail. If you have a safe place for a delivery to be left, please tell us by filling in the 'Message' box when ordering.

Loss & Breakage

Parcels are automatically insured up to the value of £39.00 against loss or damage (there are exceptions to this; notably breakables such as glass or china) Goods over the value of £39.00 will be sent without insurance unless this is specifically requested and paid for separately so please be aware of this before ordering.

IMPORTANT: Uninsured items are sent entirely at your own risk and This Vintage Life cannot be held responsible for any loss or breakages thereafter. If an item worth over £39.00 is sent uninsured and is subsequently lost or damaged, a claim will be made but the customer will be only be refunded a maximum of £39.00.

In some instances, there may be an additional cost involved in shipping to the Channel Islands. Please email before purchasing for confirmation.

This Vintage Life will not be held responsible for a delayed delivery once it is in the hands of a third party.

Wherever possible we use recycled packaging. This has two advantages. It cuts down on waste (always a good thing!) and also keeps the cost of delivery down.

Returns

Please be aware that the items we sell at This Vintage Life have been previously used and will consequently show some signs of wear commensurate with age. What we consider a major fault or damage will always be brought to your attention in the description but an item is likely to have some general wear in addition to that. Items will not be refunded due to general patina of age. However, your complete satisfaction is our ultimate goal and if you are unhappy with your purchase in any way, you may return it in the condition in which it was received and in the original packaging for a full refund minus original and any additional postage costs. We accept returns within 10 working days of receipt. It is stongly recommended that you send returns via a secure delivery method such as recorded delivery for your own peace of mind.

Condition of goods

The vast majority of the items we sell are vintage and as such have a charm all of their own. All will have some wear commensurate with age. Any major faults will be brought to your attention in the description. However if 'brand new' is what you're after then This VIntage Life is probably not for you. We are always happy to provide you with additional images or information ~ just ask!

A note about images

Although the images you will see on This Vintage Life are of a high resolution, please do be aware that the picture that is taken in camera and the one that you see on your computer screen may have slight differences. Lot's of elements can affect the final image quality and therefore some things such as colours may not be 100% accurate.
