Well, what can I say?! This is one of the best examples of a painted mirror I've come across.
A typical 1930's bevelled edged mirror depicting a crinoline lady and her cottage garden in all it's technicolour glory.
From her dusky violet gown to the abundance of glorious blooms (lupins I feel!) the detail is wonderful. The colours look as bright as the day they were painted and the pictures just cannot do them justice.
Unusually, the painting is in incredible condition. There is one small area (bottom right of mirror, see image below) of slight discolouration. Luckily, it's not too noticable as it's on top of the blue paint. Maybe someone has tried to remove it at some point as there is a spot of blue paint missing from underneath it. There also looks to be a smidge of paint gone just to the left of the gown. Apart from that, the lady and her garden are completely intact in all their glory!
There is a small bit of silvering missing (see image below) and a couple of marks here and there around the edge of the mirror.
The back is strung for hanging and it's good to see the back is all original which means it's never been messed around with.
A beautiful addition to any room...I'm sure you'll never tire of gazing at her.
