This 1940's style dress looks to be brand new and unworn.
It's homemade in a pretty, small scale cotton print and was the work of someone with enthusiasm if not all the right techniques!
For instance, there are two large pockets below the waist but they are at slightly different heights. Maybe this was intended or maybe not! Also the bottom edge is just turned under and sewn with the raw edge not hemmed. This isn't a problem of course as it can't be seen but it means there is no length to let down.
Other than that, the dress is immaculate.
There is an elasticated waist, belt loops (no belt, belt shown not included) revere collar, turned back cuffs on the short sleeves, a small pocket on the chest and seven plain white functioning buttons down the bodice.
It would look great either dressed up for the period or just worn as a sweet summer dress.
Measurements taken with garment lying flat, double all measurements except length:
Waist ~ 11" (at rest) will stretch to about 14" (I've tried it on, it fitted fine and this is my waist measurement. Any more than this and it will start to 'gape').
Shoulder to shoulder ~ 15"
Pit to pit ~ 18½"
Length ~ top of collar at back to hem 41"
Length ~ shoulder to hem 39"
Please compare these to something that already fits you well and remember to leave room for movement and comfort!
If you're still unsure about anything please email for additional measurements etc...as clothes are non-returnable due to fit.
